In Aachen, Germany there is a sudden outbreak of St. John's Dance, in which several citizens hallucinate and move about uncontrollably until they collapse from exhaustion. And while it can be considered either a type of contagious mania, a way to perform sacred rituals under religious persecution, or a weird thing that people joined in on just in case God was watching and was into it, it probably had a hand in leading to that sadistic idiocy that some partake in these days: The Dance Marathon.
