Adrian "Cap" Anson is the first Major League Baseball player to reach 3,000 hits. He is instrumental in helping to establish the Baseball Color Line which forbade African Americans from playing in the MLB. He also bet on baseball. He would be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1939. Right now Pete Rose is crying into his beer.
